Determine soil moisture content
- Correct field soil weights (FSW) do dry weight
- Calculate field soil volume (FSV) from bulk density measurements
Determine density of rocks in the lab (water displacement)
- Calculate field rock volume (FRV) from field rock weights (FRW) and rock density
Pit whole soil volume (WSV) = FSV + FRV
Pit whole soil weight (WSW) = FSW + FRW
Whole-soil bulk density = WSW/WSV
