Recent IALC Activities:Tu B'Shevat 2001 Celebration
The Jewish National Fund sponsored the 2nd annual Tu B'Shevat Festival in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. The IALC provided a colorful display, printed materials and attended the event.
One of the sepcial activities was a tree-planting ceremony officiated by Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross and a presentation given by the USDA Forest Service Associate Chief for Natural Resources, Ms. Hilda Diaz-Soltero.
Organizers say the Jewish National Fund's Tu B'Shevat celebration held Sunday, 4 February 2001 at the Scottsdale Civic Center Amphitheater was a success. The estimated attendance of nearly 2,500 enjoyed an afternoon of live music and concerts by recording artists, folk dancing, food, fun and information.
The JNF has planted over 210 million trees, built over 120 dams and reservoirs, developed over 250,000 acres of land, and created more than 400 parks throughout Israel
